| I saw that was coming out. Looking forward to hearing it, and discussing it. Welcome to the board! |

| There's a full page review of the boxed set in Oct's Vintage Guitar magazine. I subscribe to that, so I've got it already. You'll see a '61 SG on the cover. I think it's great publicity. The only thing that I hope the critics and casual fans get is how important Chris Hillman was to country rock. I think Gram's importance is over-emphasised by some, and Chris under-emphasised. Younger Than Yesterday was so important - especially Chris' songs with Clarence White in gutar. |

I was JUST listening to Younger Than Yesterday (spare me CTA 102) but otherwise a really strong album!
I couldn't agree more on Hillman. Gram was great, but whatever happened there, happened there. It was a relief to know that some steady heads were prevailing, like Chris, in those troubled times. I recall David Lindley's comment on Jackson's "Running On Empty" - "it takes a clear mind to make it."
Btw, sort of related (Souther, Hillman, Furay) - DO check out Raul Malo's new CD - "You're Only Lonely." Yup, Souther's "You're Only Lonely." Raul is another GREAT rock vocalist - very reminiscent of Roy Orbison.
"So Sad" (the Everly Bros. song) - just wished that TBS and Frey had come crashing in on the harmonies. |
