There is a God!

He better tell HIS SIDE of the story and tell everything without holding back.

Yes there's three sides to every story - If Henley and Frey wants to tell their story, - write a book, I'll buy it.

Otherwise, bring on the dirty laundry Mr. Felder.

Anyone who does not want Felder to talk - i.e. Henley and Frey, you shouldn't have fired the boy!

I've been wanting to hear the goings on in that band for decades ( not the personal stuff mind you, but how they created stuff, the fights over the songs, behind the music, unplugg etc. - this is probably the closest we will get to such a thing.)
Bring it on baby, bring it on - can't wait!

Ok - what's with people telling Felder to shut up?
What's with people without even reading the book assuming he is lying?
What's with people saying Felder's a cry baby?
What's with people saying Felder's ungrateful?

I think such people have their heads too far up the, hmm wait, how else can I phrase this and be a bit more sociable, presentable, softer?

How about this, if you don't want Felder to speak, if you don't want to hear about the band, you are a communist.

There that's plenty soft enough.

That last one deserves one of those stupid smiley things, but I'm not going to smile, I never freakin smile!

Well, they tried that back in 1980. And couldn't get a publisher. So, there you go.

At best, he has to be considered a 'disgruntled former employee,' or whatever it is they're going to say. I'm sure it'll be fairly interesting! Shocked Laughing

I hope it does have some stuff we haven't all heard before.

That's the official party line, by the sounds of it. I guess they couldn't stop him, because to do so, they would have had to pick up the legal expenses involved in a breach of contract with Hyperion.

Perhaps it will drive them into doing a book of their own - or if Frey is not simply joking about the book he's doing, then he might have to hurry up and get it finished.

I'm looking forward to it. Sure, it'll be biased, but it'll still be a good read. We can pick and choose what we take with a grain of salt and what we buy!

In the meantime, I am also really looking forward to getting a copy of Crystal Zevon's book on Warren, as it will provide some good anecdotes about the life and times of all the 70s singer/songwriters.

I got a certain wry amusement out of Warren's comment about Henley, btw.

"On his deathbed, discussing the merits of having a funeral, he said, ''I just don't want to have to spend my last days wondering whether Henley'' - Don Henley of the Eagles, who did not attend - ''will show up.''

Me neither! Laughing

lol!

I saw the Zevon biography in Border's the other night as my friend and I were waiting to go see a movie that started a half-hour later. I wanted to buy it, but they were charging $30!

I'll wait 'til it hits the library.

I think it's about $17 on the Amazon link. However, Harper should have it in most libraries in a month or so. Can you request it be added to your local library?

Henley and Frey could not get a publisher?

They can say whatever they want, but they won't be able to say he was not there and if he tells the truth, they won't be able to prove him wrong.

I hope he gets to the Eagles stuff quick and bypass as much as possible anything non-Eagles.

He did say "my life as an Eagle"

I thought I heard somewhere that the lawsuit prohibited him from talking, that Henley and Frey would never allow him to talk and still settle?

I would love to hear him disclose part of the settlement.

SS - "sure it will be bias sounds" like you mean it will be untrue?

Henley should be in the circus.

I'll be at the bookstore later today to see how much they're charging for Zevon's book around my way.

Thanks for the advice, mews. I'm pretty sure I can request it, or perhaps even buy it myself for that price!

TG - Everyone's perspectives are biased towards themselves, so biased doesn't necessary mean untrue. Unfortunately, many times, people with agendas do bend the truth to make themselves look better. Felder may very well do this - we'll just wait and see. Then again, no one except the guys themselves would actually be able to say for sure what is and isn't true about it. I guess we'll all have to decide for ourselves, using our best judgment.

We probably will draw different conclusions about some things. Wink

The lawsuit doesn't make him look disinterested, that's for sure!

And, in all honesty, their viewpoint is likely to be revisionist, self-interested, defensive, and so on. That would be true for Felder as well.

I would hope so! Laughing I look forward to the discussion!

I think this is a First Amendment issue. I think H&F probably really wanted to settle, but I don't think they'd be allowed legally to make such a demand.

Mewsical, How come you always know when someone needs to be politely redirected?

I will give Soda a chance to reflect on her bias stance, perhaps she will see how clearly she's defending her bias.

MR - I think I've heard situations when people sue and part of the settlement is that one party agrees not to disclose and talk about the issues or certain issues.
Can mutual agreement nullify freedom of speech?

Yes. I don't think there was any way Felder was going to be part of a mutual agreement on that though, because he knows the constitution is on his side. H&F's only hope on that would be if a judge allowed it to be part of a "demand," and I can't see that ever happening.

I have a feeling Joe & TBS probably aren't real thrilled about this book either, although maybe Felder will be gentler about them, then again maybe not since they sided definitively with Glenn & Don. It seems inevitable that Felder's book is going to be juicier than To The Limit or a publisher wouldn't have bothered with it.

I believe someone once said "we are a nation of laws." God bless the Constitution.

A stipulation is a stipulation. If they agreed to Felder's right to freedom of speech as part of the settlement, they waived their rights.

As far as Joe and Timothy, hey, this business pre-dates Tim by years, and Joe didn't get sober until the 'resumption.' Felder had a lot of old stuff to deal with - mano a mano with F&H (and A). I certainly will be a LOT more interested in this recounting than any of the others. And I will apply the required salt!

I assure you, I included myself when I made the above statement "Everyone's perspectives are biased towards themselves." This includes a bias towards one's own conceptions of others, although we can each make a concerted effort to see things from more than one perspective.

If Frey was writing a book would you have said the same thing, would you have your skeptical mind prime and ready, salt shaker in hand?
