This is a hell of a way to resurrect this topic, but here goes. Yesterday, my stepdaughter Jenny and her husband and all 3 kids were in a car accident. They were coming back from camping, and everyone was pretty much asleep, except for my son in law JJ who was driving. Lola was trying to get comfortable, and there were bags on the floor in front of her, which JJ reached back between the front seats to move some of them to give her some more foot room. When he did that, he drifted over to the shoulder, and when he corrected to get back onto the road, the right front tire blew, causing the van to roll 3 or 4 times. They were airlifted to the hospital. Jenny has stitches in her head, JJ has staples, Christian and Lola are fine, but poor Paul had to have his left foot amputated. He's in the hospital, obviously, and has a long road to get better, and there's so much crap that he's going to have to get used to. My God. I'm still processing this... Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Shocked Shocked Shocked I'm sorry to hear this, Ter. Crying or Very sad Hope Paul gets better.

Holy cow, Ter! I just checked in here, and this is dreadful news. I do hope that things are getting better. So sorry to hear about Paul, that's a tough thing to have happened.

Thanks. He's doing really great! Got the stitches out last week, and started back to school yesterday with everyone else. The doctor wants him to use a wheelchair at school to help protect his foot more, but he uses his crutches everywhere else. He's scary fast on them too. Laughing They are going to start with the ortho people this week I think. They said he'll be able to walk without crutches and wear normal shoes eventually. It could have been so much worse though. Paul has the greatest attitude about it all. He's really amazing.

I haven't seen photos of them lately, but is Paul the older boy or the younger one?

He's the younger one. He just turned 6 in April. Here's a pic from Monday. First day of school pic. Laughing

Got some great news! Paul is starting to walk on his foot, while still using the crutches. Very Happy They're going to get him his prosthetic foot some time next week. He looks so happy! He's really coming along. Very Happy Cool
