Very nice job. Loved the heart-lights around the stage, and the arrow moving at it and hitting it, resulting in an explosion of light.

I liked every song - particularly Free Falling, which was his third song, opening with American Girl, then I Won't Back Down. The crowd was going crazy, howling along on the choruses. Especially on I Won't Back Down, which I think expresses the American spirit pretty well.

Well I wont back down, no I won't back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won't back down

Gonna stand my ground, won't be turned around
And Ill keep this world from draggin' me down
Gonna stand my ground and I wont back down

Hey baby, there ain't no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground
And I won't back down.

Well I know whats right, I got just one life
In a world that keeps on pushin me around
But Ill stand my ground and I wont back down

Hey baby there ain't no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground
And I won't back down
No, I won't back down

Every time I see Petty in concert, I have the same reaction. Great sing-along songs and you can sense the unity of the band. Team spirit and all that! Wink

I can see why they went with him. Next time - Bob Seger. He's got a few songs that'd work!

I totally agree with you! The stage was really cool with the guitar motif on it. Loved his performance, and it ended too soon, IMO.

Since I was rooting for the Giants, I agree! Laughing

Tom Petty rocks. He gets better with age. Thanks for finding those clips EB. I knew if I missed it I would be able to see it somewhere in cyberspace. Luckily I didn't miss it but I still enjoy watching it again.

Highly recommend the DVD Runnin' Down A Dream. A Peter Bogdanovich film tracking Petty and the Heartbreakers from their beginnings (and there is actual film footage from every stage of the band's development. Way cool) to their 30th anniversary show in Gainesville.
