About Rockphiles

As the bestselling Motown artist of all time, Marvin Gaye's soulful voice helped shape the Motown sound. Adding to numerous solo hits like "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" were his duets with female label artists Diana Ross, Tammi Terrell ("Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "It Takes Two") and Mary Wells. Motown eventually granted Gaye control over his recordings, a move that spawned his most enduring work, 1971's socially conscious What's Going On? He later returned to the sensual with classics like Let's Get It On and his 1982 comeback Midnight Love (with its hit "Sexual Healing").
